FAQ about Products and Formulation
Trias Chem specializes in formulating epoxy and polyurethane resins for specialized, technical, and industrial applications. We develop custom solutions for sectors such as construction, NO DIG relining, abrasives, marine, art, coatings, and permeable pavements.
Yes, we are expanding our product line with raw materials of natural origin rather than petroleum derivatives. Currently, our certified range includes both epoxy and polyurethane products. Specifically, we offer a transparent epoxy resin for making tables and furniture, and a bio-based single-component binder for draining paving.
Our polyurea binder is ideal for permeable pavements, both indoor and outdoor: pathways, parking areas, courtyards, pedestrian zones and humid environments. It’s suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial settings, also where aesthetic qualities are important.
Yes. It’s perfect for interiors thanks to low emissions and solvent-free formulation. The decorative aspect of draining paving makes it ideal for showrooms, entryways, spas, and modern interiors requiring both design and drainage.
We offer epoxy systems—either aliphatic or aromatic—with UV filters. These are widely used for unique, high‑value furniture and design items such as tables, chairs, partition panels, doors, lamps, and a variety of innovative décor pieces. Our systems are selected for purity and clarity, with calibrated pot‑life for casting mass, and UV protection—backed by decades of experience in transparent resin formulation. They can be used on tables, chairs, dividing panels, doors, lamps and a whole series of furnishing items with an innovative shape and design. They can be used on tables, chairs, dividing panels, doors, lamps and a whole series of furnishing items with an innovative shape and design.
Yes, but it’s advisable to seal the surface with a primer or a thin resin basecoat to prevent air bubbles during casting. The wood must be seasoned, dry, clean, and dimensionally stable.
Yes. You can add pigments or colored aggregates to achieve customized finishes. We provide guidance to choose the right color combinations for each project.
Yes, we can develop tailor-made formulations in collaboration with the client based on specific technical needs—mechanical properties, rheology, or environmental characteristics. Our R&D department is available to assess custom requests.
Given the versatility of our epoxy and polyurethane resin systems, we operate in both sectors. We offer solutions for professional construction (paving, coatings, sealants) and industrial applications (abrasives, binders for composite materials). All products are intended exclusively for professionals and companies.
FAQ about Draining Pavements
A permeable pavement is a surface made of aggregates (like decorative gravel or stones) bound by resin that allows rainwater to filter naturally into the ground. This eco-friendly solution prevents water pooling and promotes drainage.
Benefits include reduced hydraulic inversion due to natural drainage, lower flood risk, high breathability, low maintenance, and environmental sustainability. Also, with our polyurea binder, the surface remains durable even under harsh climatic conditions.
Yes. Our single-component polyurea binder works well with a wide range of aggregates such as marble, quartz, granite, and others—provided they are clean and dry before mixing.
It depends on the intended use. For pedestrian surfaces, we recommend ~1.5 cm thickness; for vehicle use, increase to at least ~2.5 cm. A technical assessment is required to determine suitable thickness based on the substrate and materials.
The binder is mixed with aggregates in a concrete mixer or paddle mixer. After priming the substrate, the mixture is spread with a trowel or screed. It’s then compacted and left to cure. No catalyst or multi-component mixing is needed. The binder-to-aggregate ratio depends on the granulometry and shape of the aggregates. An application cycle is available on request.
Yes—using a primer is essential to ensure cohesion between the paving layer and the substrate.
Yes, our polyurea binder is designed for mechanical resistance in driveable settings when installed with correct substrate preparation, thickness, and aggregate selection. Suitable for driveways, parking lots, and industrial courtyards.
Curing depends on ambient temperature and humidity. Usually, it becomes walkable in 24–48 hours and driveable in 48–72 hours.
No. Our polyurea binder is nearly odorless and solvent‑free, suitable even for semi‑enclosed or indoor usage. A safer, more comfortable option versus traditional VOC‑containing binders.
FAQ about Quality, Regulations and Safe Use
Yes, all formulations undergo internal quality control and testing—viscosity, curing time, adhesion, workability, and compatibility with common substrates. We follow a quality‑based, performance‑consistent approach.
Each production batch is internally tested for viscosity, curing time, adhesion, and technical features. Our formulations are refined through customer feedback and ongoing R&D.
Yes, we can issue custom COAs upon request, based on parameters agreed with the client (e.g., viscosity, gel time, solids content). The COA is provided along with the delivery of each batch.
Yes, we always provide a Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for each product, in compliance with current regulations. These documents are available upon request at the time of purchase. Online access is reserved exclusively for authorized distributors through a dedicated login area.
Yes. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, and respirators, is mandatory as indicated in each product’s SDS. Always follow the safety instructions in the relevant sections.
FAQ about Applications and Use
No. Application is reserved for qualified personnel. For products containing diisocyanates, European regulations require operators to complete a mandatory training course for safe use, and only authorized, trained workers should handle them.
Yes, we provide qualified technical support during product selection and application. You can request dedicated consultation for technical issues, detailed usage instructions, or customization to project needs.
Each system requires a precise mixing ratio—by weight or volume (e.g., 100:50)—as indicated in the technical data sheet. Strict adherence is essential to ensure proper reaction and performance.
Since our two-component systems are formulated with precise stoichiometric ratios, incorrect mixing can severely impair mechanical and physical characteristics, compromising curing. We recommend using precision scales or volumetric measuring tools as appropriate.
Yes. Resins should be stored in dry conditions, protected from frost and direct sunlight, and ideally between 10 °C and 25 °C. Each product includes specific storage guidelines in its technical data sheet.
FAQ on Orders and Sales
We sell directly from our headquarters, and also collaborate with authorized resellers by geographic area or application in Italy and abroad. We can recommend the best option based on your location and product needs.
Yes. Our products are exclusively for companies and professionals with a valid VAT number. We do not sell to private individuals.
Yes. Pricing is evaluated per order, considering quantity, product type, technical/logistical needs, and possible discounts for volume or recurring customers.
Our General Terms of Sale stipulate a minimum order value of €400 plus VAT. Orders below this may be evaluated case by case depending on product availability and destination.
